God’s Definition of Sin
1 John 3:4. “Every man who worketh sin, worketh also the transgression of LAW: For sin is the transgression of law.”
So we can see that sin is simply the transgression of God’s law as it is given in His book, the Bible.
God says all have committed Sin
Romans 3:23. “For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Isaiah 53:6. “ALL WE like sheep have gone astray; we have turned EVERY ONE to his own way.”
Galatians 3:10. “For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, Cursed is EVERY ONE who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
This fact is not only stated by God but is demonstrated on every hand each day we live.
God says there is a Penalty for Breaking His Law
There is but one reason for this penalty and that is “sin” and there is but one penalty and that is “death” or eternal punishment.
Romans 6:23a. “The wages of SIN is DEATH.”
John 3:36. “He that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but THE WRATH OF GOD ABIDETH ON HIM.” Compare II Thess. 1:7-9; John 8:24; Rev. 20:15; 21:8. God has provided pardon or forgiveness for All Sinners
Isaiah 53:6. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way, and Jehovah HATH LAID ON HIM THE INIQUITY OF US ALL.”
Hebrews 2:9. “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, THAT HE BY THE GRACE OF GOD SHOULD TASTE OF DEATH FOR EVERY MAN.”
1 John 2:2. “And He is the propitiation (or covering) for our sins; and not for ours only BUT FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.”
John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him MIGHT NOT PERISH but have everlasting life.”
God’s Terms of Acceptance
The following are the terms laid down by God for the sinner’s acceptance in appropriating the death of Christ to his sin.
1.Realize your Sin and its Penalty. Romans 3:23;6;23
2.Realize that Christ died for you or took your penalty upon Himself. Isa. 53:6.
3. A repentance of your sin (That in your life which is contrary to God’s law). “I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, shall all in like manner perish Luke 13:3.
4.A confession before men of your faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God and Your personal Savior. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10. Compare Matthew 10:32-33.
5. Be baptized for the remission of your sins. “Now when they heard this they were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and the rest of the Apostles, `brethren, what shall we do?’ And Peter said unto their, ‘REPENT YE AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF YOU in the name of Jesus Christ UNTO THE REMISSION OF YOUR SINS; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit’.” This is God’s truth taken directly from His word. Let each one ask himself, “How do I stand in relation to the truth of God; has MY SIN been forgiven?”
